Dr. Marco Alcala, Jr., MD

Dr. Alcala received his medical degree from Saint George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. He Completed his general surgical internship at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and his general surgical residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital, both in New Jersey. He underwent a three-year research fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute in Pittsburgh, Pa. He completed his family medicine residency at the Beaver Medical Center in Beaver, Pa. He then completed his fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he trained as a team physician for the Pittsburgh Pirates. 

He is a published author of several articles, presented multiple abstracts for research, and has given oral presentations on a variety of topics to medical audiences around the country. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, The American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, the USA Boxing Association, the American Association of Family Physicians, and the American Board of Family Medicine. 

Dr. Alcala is the team physician for Avonworth and Moon high schools and team physician for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has medical staff privileges at Allegheny General Hospital and is welcoming new patients.

When School is in session: 

Monday-Friday 2:00pm- end of scheduled events

Saturday- Event coverage as needed

Sunday– Closed

Holiday Breaks/ No School: Coverage of scheduled events (and practices if given proper notice) or by appointment

Summer Hours: TBA
